TOWN OF SEDGWICK

SELECTMEN’S MEETING

September 4, 2014

 

            Opened the meeting and established a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith.  Also present:  CEO Duane Ford, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Robert Jones, Darlene Hatch.

 

            Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.

 

            Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $186,608,89;  school expenses of $62,076.90, transfer station quarterly payment of $24,907.25 and county tax of $87,524.14 were the big items on the warrant.

 

            Decided to pay the tax collector for the whole month of September as she will be working and training a new tax collector, who will be chosen soon. 

 

            PUBLIC BUSINESS:  Jones asked that all meetings, including committee meetings, be posted on the website. The Harbor Committee will meet the 25th of September.

 

            OLD BUSINESS:  Received the order of discontinuance and release deed from the lawyer for the Salt Pond access.  Assistant will compile a checklist of things that need to be done before the trade can go to the town for approval.

 

            NEW BUSINESS:  Received 3 resumes for the job of tax collector, but since the ads have only been in the papers yesterday and today, decided to put off any decision until next week.

            Signed a Constitution Week proclamation for Majabigwaduce Chapter of the DAR.

            Selectmen want to talk with assessing agent about tree growth renewals.  Assistant to make out tree growth report for the state.

            Should compose a job description and set hours for a new tax collector.

 

CEO REPORT:  Two foundations being put in – one at Hunneman property, one at the Martin property.  Attending more classes this coming week.

 

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, the motion was made, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn at 7:45 pm
