SELECTMEN’S MEETING

October 23, 2014

 

            Opened the meeting and established that a quorum was present.  Selectmen present:  Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith.  Also present:  Fire Chief David Carter, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Tax Collector Pat Gross, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Robert Jones.

 

            Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.

 

            Signed the treasurer’s warrant for October 16 for $65,731.29; school expenses $55,425.48, general assistance $600, road signs $284.57, property tax overpay 674.27, and (new) tax collector pay for ½ month $833.34.

 

            NEW BUSINESS:  Voted 3-0 to allow the treasurer pay all necessary bills and have this week’s warrant ready next week.

            Fire chief gave update on the radio frequencies and the application for new frequencies for the fire department to go on the tower on the Ridge.

            Three applications for general assistance and one for concealed weapon permit handled this evening.  New tax collector on the job and doing motor vehicle registrations also.  Must be supervised by  deputy collector (Cindy) for 6-months.  Taxes are due on October 31.

            Made the motion, seconded and voted 3-0 to look into grants from the County Commission for a grant for renovations to the inside of the Town Office.  The bathrooms need to be updated and handicap accessible, an inside entrance to the basement is needed, and office space needs to be allocated for everyone.

 

             CEO Report:  Sent letter and put up notices on the possible violations on the Salt Pond.  Also reported on the Caterpillar Hill Initiative (CHI).  They need to come to the Planning Board and explain their plans, preferably with drawings.

 

            ADJOURN:  There being no further business, the motion was made, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 pm.
