SELECTMEN’S MEETING
March 23, 2017
Opened the meeting at 6 p.m. and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Colby Pert, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Bob Publicover, Robert Jones, Don Holmes, Peter Woodward, Fire Chief David Carter, Tax Collector Elizabeth Gray, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to dispense with reading of last meeting’s minutes and accept them as written.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $7,922.99; administrative costs of $297.31, general assistance $622.18, fire department $694.17, Emera $475.83 and Walker Pond road work $3,500.
OLD BUSINESS: Received a letter from DEP’s John Cullen regarding the Salt Pond access road. May need to get permits for some possible wetlands. Will work with us on permitting and suggests that we get a map from Burman, the company that worked on the mapping of the road. Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 for Astbury to get a copy of the map for viewing at the special town meeting.
Handicap bathroom – Peter Woodward described the work to be done and will schedule for a couple of days to do the work. The Roy Boys Plumbing will work on the plumbing. Need to schedule work so that there are bathrooms are available during work hours.
Fire truck contracts – Fire Chief Carter gave selectmen copies of the contracts for the new truck. Colwell Diesel, Ellsworth, $92,702 for the chassis delivered to 4 Guys. $225,748 for the outfitting of the truck at 4 Guys Company. With all discounts figured the truck will cost $318,450 and be delivered in about 400 days. Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 (Astbury abstained) to sign the contracts.
Appointments – Clerk to call prospective committee appointees.
Public hearing and special town meeting: Public hearing on the school validation on April 6, special town meeting on April 28 with an informational meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the Salt Pond Access.
NEW BUSINESS: Email address site available to sign up for notices of special meetings, etc. Check SEDGWICK NOTICES on the town website, www.sedgwickmaine.org, to sign up.
Assessing agent in Wednesday, call 359-2275 for an appointment. Selectmen in Monday, April 3, 9-5, for any property changes that need to be reported. (Doomsdsay notice in your town report book.)
Setting office liaisons: School liaison – Sheahan; Harbor Com. – Pert; Fire Dept – Astbury; Animal Control – Astbury; Tax Col., Clerk/Treas. – Pert; Plan. Bd. – Pert; Road Com. – Astbury; CEO – Sheahan.
Holmes had two requests. 1) Would like to have the town meeting moved back to the Town House; couldn’t hear at school gym. 2) Rusted culverts on side of Carter Point Road removed – will be taken care of asap.
CEO REPORT: US Cellular needs to upgrade and swap out some equipment at the cell tower on the Ridge. Would like to leave the key to the old landfill gate with assistant. Message from Harbor Committee chairman DeSilvey: he hopes to continue the float replacement project at the Town Dock.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
