TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
November 9, 2017

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Bob Publicover, Budget Committee members Doug Drown, Zoe Tenney, Horace Wardwell, CEO Duane Ford, Treasurer/clerk Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

There being no errors or omissions in the records of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to dispense with reading the minutes of the last meeting and accept them as written.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $7,286.57: fire department expenses $1,386.35, administration for ballot clerks and taxes $581.78, general assistance $659.99, and town dock $333.51.

NEW BUSINESS: Discussed budget process with the committee. They will be setting up dates to talk with department heads about the department’s budget and will review the non-profit requests as they come in. At least some of the members will be attending school committee meetings on the school budget.
Discussed the fire department’s new truck and how much the town will need to borrow to pay it off. Treasurer will have figures next week, budget committee will review the figures when meeting with the fire chief on his budget.
Brooklin selectboard sent letter asking about seaweed harvesting in town, they have had complaints about harvesting on Brooklin’s shore. Ford will follow it up. No town regulations are in place to regulate the harvesting of seaweed, but DMR regulates it.
Trees down at the Carter Point Cemetery, assistant will check statutes to clarify ownership of a cemetery.

OLD BUSINESS: Update on Animal Control Officer’s issues – workman’s comp coverage, no firearms, personal auto coverage supplemental to his own insurance.
Discussed safety issue of front steps, gutter coverage on back door.

CEO REPORT: Checking easements for Department of Conservation regarding erosion control at Town Dock. Keeping busy.

ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 8:06 p.m.
