SELECTMEN’S MEETING

June 1, 2023

 

Opened the meeting and establish a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Susan Ford, Colby Pert.  Also present:  Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Donna Beninati, Leslie and Garry Schneider, Bob Publicover (by phone Paul Trowbridge).

 

Read and approved the minutes of May 18, and May 25 as written.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $45,606.19:  clearing/v $719.92; clearingi/f $1796.55; clearing/f $119; clearinga/c $16; town office $60; town house $60; fire protection $930.40; administration $9,095.52;sludge $60; transfer station $33,415.

 

CEO REPORT:  Will see that the resident at 231 Snow’s Cove gets a building notification form;  no septic problems at present on 9 Snow’s Cove, but there are more residents in the home so problems may show up this later; the town doesn’t inspect cell towers, sent form for permitted work to East Coast Communications; Resident at Carter Point discussed placement for an 8×10’ shed and also new steps to the shore; Mr. Manheimer has an engineer working to elevate his home on the shore and make necessary repairs to his home on Shore Road, waiting for DEP paperwork.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS:  1) Snow Removal Contract Option – Astbury has done a good job.  Moved, seconded and voted 2-0-1 (Astbury) to sign his contract for 2 years.

2)  Workshop with Budget Committee – The budget committee chairman said that the committee recommends 25% raise for all elected and appointed town officers.  There have been no raises for at least 10 years, there is much more work, more hours involved. And much of the work is not compensated for.  Select board will write warrant article with budget committee recommendations and if necessary, select board recommendations.

3)  Unresolved Business:  a)  Compusult has recommended several things to upgrade the computer system.  The estimate for several checked items is $2620; moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to do the recommended items; b)  the cost for google (gmail) is the same as outlook, recommended a change to google for ease of use, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to change email account to google; Pert reported that work at Walker Pond and the driveway at the Town Office has not been done, will call Astbury Construction to see if they will do it.

 

ACTION ITEMS:  Called an executive session pursuant to §4056A for June 2 at 1 p.m.  Session started 12:45 p.m., out at 1:38 p.m.

 

Town Meeting:  July 22, 2023 6 p.m. at Town House.

 

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 p.m.
