SELECTMEN’S MEETING, July 11, 2019
TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
July 11, 2019
Opened the meeting at 6:01 pm and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present Road Commissioner Paul Carter, CEO Frank Tracy, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Patricia Egan
There were no minutes of last meeting, July 3, 2019, because that was solely to sign the Warrant.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $131,826.53: education, $123,085.39; fire protection, $4,131.53; MV clearing, $2,057.75; administration, $622.88; legal, $666.50; town office, $20.77; town office equipment, $557.00; animal control, $71.50; Walker Pond, $8.64; fees, $95.00; general assistance, $199.57; plumbing, $310.00.
CEO Report: Frank Tracy had only one inspection and was able to partly catch up on paperwork including working on a spread sheet to keep track of construction documents as well as site plan review processes. The CEO/LPI will not be in on Thursday, July 25. Instead, he will be available at the town office on Friday, July 26, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Road Commissioner Paul Carter was not at all happy with the paving done on the Walker Pond Access road and has told the contractor he will have to fix the sloppy work. Selectman Sheahan mentioned that he has talked with Strong Brewing about a drainage issue on Rope Ferry Road so that in recent rains the parking area floods. The Road Commissioner feels it is a MDOT issue which he has reported to them six times. He suggests they call the DOT. Meanwhile he will check it during the next rainfall to make sure it is not a safety issue.
Pat Egan wanted to make her case about the washouts on Harding Lane. “This systematic destruction is out of hand.” Selectman Astbury suggested that her next step should be to talk with MDOT herself and call often even to become a squeaky wheel. She will talk with her neighbors to also contact the DOT. Selectman Sheahan feels that part of the issue is the need for a new culvert across Reach Road from Harding Lane.
Sheahan has looked into The Trio Conversion trying to find the person at SJ Rollins who is the expert. He left a message on Monday, still no response by today so he called again and was told, “You are on the list. Someone’s going to call you.” Also spoke to DHHS about the Ridge Road issue to provide names and address.
Sheahan talked to Emera about the street light on South Cross Road / Reach Road. We should see the conversion of the other lights to LEDs soon.
Chris di Pretoro has done some more landscaping in front of the Town Office. She may not be able to volunteer any more because of a new job.
Sheahan visited the Transfer Station and got conflicting information about items for “single sort.” Some discussion about upcoming Tri-town Transfer Station Exploratory Committee meeting.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:29 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert J. Publicover
2nd Selectman
