SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 22, 2019

Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Jerry & Allison Wetterskog, Jim and Jane Nesbitt, ACO Allan Van Reijsen, Road Commissioner Paul Carter, CEO Frank Tracy, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

There being some changes requested in the minutes of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted to approve the minutes as amended.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $81,697.75; Emera for fire protection $133.67, streetlights $179.35, town house $15.53, and town office $78.05, town dock $120, public access $120, education $79,254.32, m/v clearing 1540, fees $99, administration $158.83.

CEO REPORT: Several new people coming in to check on zoning regulations, etc., inspections getting done, still catching up on paperwork.

DISCUSSION ITEMS: Harding Lane Meeting: Met with owners and road commissioner to discuss the erosion problem on the Lane. Road Commissioner will start soon to ditch and install culverts. Emera is to cut a tree which has high voltage lines running through it and DOT has repairs scheduled for the Reach Road this fall.
Mrs. Nesbitt read a statement regarding the alleged Harding Lane shoreland zone violation which was discovered last September. They are seeking assistance from the DEP to resolve the situation.
Sheahan was contacted by a medical marijuana caregiver regarding regulations. He will check on what regulations the town is obligated to have.
ACO was asked about the animal control position – is the current system working all right for him? is the caseload more this year than last year?

ACTION ITEMS: Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to allow the treasurer to issue school and town paychecks with only 1 selectman’s signature on the warrant.
Approved Tax Collector’s vacation from Oct. 26 – Nov. 1.
Speed sign and trailer are working and will be moved from time to time. The sign records time, speed, and dates.
Usage of the Town House must be scheduled through the town office. Lights, inside and outside, should be turned off.

ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
