Planning Board, Monday, Nov. 10, 2008
The Sedgwick Planning Board met at the Sedgwick Town Office on Monday, November 10, 2008 for their regular meeting and a public hearing on the Eggemoggin Heights Subdivision. This meeting was held on Monday instead of the usual Tuesday to give the Appeals Board a chance to meet on Tuesday.
Present were Board members Palmer Little, Chairman, Sylvia Wardwell, Secretary, Victor Smith, David Webb, John Allen and Alternate James Wood.
The meeting was opened at 7 pm. There being no other business to be discussed, the Chairman opened the meeting for discussion of the subdivision. The subdivision is located on Map 13, lots 6, 8-3, and 11. The walk of the site was held on November 2 and was attended by approximately 22 persons.
Chairman Little asked for concerns from the audience. He explained that this public hearing was an informational one. Some of the concerns brought up were vernal pools, storm water runoff, hydrology studies, road washouts and traffic.
There had been one vernal pool identified, it was considered ‘not significant’ by state criteria. The plans had been changed to allow for it. The Board will require more information, especially from the DEP.
Stormwater runoff will require culverts in the low spots. Adjacent landowners should inform the town so that they can be monitored at different seasons. The Board will formulate some questions for CES to answer regarding wetland spots. They will also have more information on the aquifer and results of 13-14 new wells on the neighboring wells.
Traffic may be increased by 80 – 100 automobiles per day during the summer.
The residents consider the road to be in poor repair at present; they are concerned that more traffic will make it worse. The Board will request a traffic study from CES.
Mr Duffy was asked to put up an identification sign on the property. He agreed to do so; he also gave permission for people to walk the property again if they so desire. They will return next month with the requested information and maps.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 pm.
