CEO REPORT:

Duane received a called from Karen Gagnon, an appraiser asking about minimum lot size info in regard to the .24-acre site across the road from the pending sale at 251 Reach Road. Gerry Gray called for an inspection of septic to occur the next day around noon time (06/08/2024) This I all new construction down into Cooper Farm Road and Walker Pond. Duane visited the site and performed his inspection. Duane was informed that the Townsends of 57 Ocean Side Dr. had made contact with someone to rebuild a former small wooden pier at the shore of the lot (Map 11 Lot 24) He sent a letter to the Townsends on 6/9/24 to stop any work being done within 250 feet of the shore without communications with DEP staff in Bangor. An architect called to get a building notification form for the Cusack’s- it turns out they are in Europe and Scott Parker; the contracting is having a hip operation. Duane found out that Ryan of Rudman-Winchell has left the firm, so he called to get Stephen Wagner’s email and sent correspondence to him about the Peasley Black Pond matter.

FIRE CHIEF UPDATE:

David Carter reported on the hose testing done, it went pretty well and only lost about 14 ft of hose. They were able to use the school lot to conduct the testing while Stonington used the DOT lot. Yearend winding down and is pleased that the FD wasn’t as over budget as originally thought. Budget numbers were not easily obtained with treasurer not in the office. Susan asked how the new OSHA rules would affect our FD and David noted that it was not easy for small (or larger for that matter) departments to comply with some of the new regulations and he hopes that they do not implement them.

DISCUSSION and/or ACTION ITEMS:

  1. Deer Isle/Sedgwick Bridge Walk-Bridge Walk still on for Sunday 6/16 from 1-2. FD will be patrolling the Sedgwick side. Susan and Colby will both be there in some capacity.
  2. Town Office Parking Lot- Paul carter was in and discussed adding the town parking lot to the paving jobs he is doing this summer. We will be awaiting an estimate for those costs. Susan will talk to Paul about the potholes on Walker Pond/Cooper Farm Roads.
  3. Audit Update- Audit is completed and has been delivered to the office.
  4. Town Report Update- We now have all the pieces for the town report and has been sent to the printer. Waiting for proof from the printer.

UNRESOLVED BUSINESS:

  1. How is Barbara? Susan tries to keep in touch with her. She has had a few setbacks but is doing well otherwise.
