SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 29, 2013
Selectmen present: Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith
Also present: Tax Collector Belinda Pert, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Road Commissioner Paul Carter, Packet reporter Bette Britt, Dr. Wilgram.
1) Opened the meeting at 6 pm and established a quorum.
2) Read and approved the minutes of last week.
3) Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $115,576.60; County Tax for $87,315.73 and the 3rd quarter transfer station payment of $24,907.25 accounted for most of the warrant.
4) NEW BUSINESS: Dr. Wilgrim asked the selectmen to thank Warden Brian Tripp for his services on Walker Pond. Davis agreed to call Tripp’s supervisor and pass the message along.
One person in to get his concealed weapons permit, and one person in for general assistance. One family needed assistance during the week, and one case was continued from last week. Selectmen’s assistant has been deputized to handle general assistance during the week, authorized by the 2nd selectman.
5) OLD BUSINESS: The computer issue has been put on hold for two weeks. Grindal will be out of the office on Sept. 5.
The bulkhead doors are all built and are still waiting to be installed.
Selectmen to confer with office staff to see what can be done toward having the office open 5 days a week and how the office can be run more efficiently.
Electricity still not installed.
The turnaround issue on Pertville needs to be resolved before school starts.
Special town meeting still waiting for final figures.
The town office field has been mowed, need to see if the former dump has been done.
The CEO reported that he has spoken with Mr. McCarthy about the shoreland zoning setbacks. The Camp 4 Winds buildings have been demolished and cleanup is going forward. Restoration of the shoreland will be started soon. There are several other projects in the works to keep up with also, including permits for a Carter Point camp walkway.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
