SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 15, 2013
Selectmen present: Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith
Also present: CEO Duane Ford, Tax Collector Belinda Pert, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Robert Jones, Fred Marston, Diana Wood, Steve Tobey, Reporter Anne Berlant.
1) Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
2) Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $7,126.12; $3,314.82 was miscellaneous bills for the fire department, which has been busy this last month.
3) Nicole Gray has been sworn in as a planning board member replacing Steve Astbury, attended her first meeting, and was welcomed by the rest of the board.
4) The building notification fees and fines are stated in an ordinance, so they will need to be approved by a town vote, probably at a special town meeting.
5) At 6:30 pm, the public hearing was opened for discussion of the General Assistance ordinance changes. The changes were raises in the current maximums and the directions and changes were read, discussed and approved with a 3-0 vote by the selectmen. The clerk will attest the signed papers and return them to the state for recording. The public hearing for the General Assistance Ordinance changes was closed at 6:40 pm.
6) Agenda continued with the concealed weapons fees also needing to go to a special town meeting; the improvements to the basement and the bathroom will also have to be approved at a special town meeting because additional funds will be needed.
7) Papers have been sent to Attorney Parkinson regarding the Carter Point Road.
7) The CEO reported on activity around the village regarding the 250’ setback.
8) At 7:01 pm the public hearing for the mediation results between the Town and The Maine Trust was opened. First Selectman Davis read the agreement. There were a few questions, but generally the public present was pleased, mainly because the case is finished. Grindal made the motion to accept the agreement as written, Davis seconded and the vote was 3-0 in favor of accepting the agreement. Attorney Parkinson will be notified and will notify the DEP that the Trust will apply for a permit within 14 days of this notification to remove the two bunk houses within 90 days of receiving their permit. A copy of the Consent Agreement between the Town of Sedgwick and The Maine Trust may be viewed at the Town Office during office hours.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
