SELECTMEN’S MEETING
May 11, 2023

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Susan Ford, Colby Pert. Also present: Donna Beninati, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle, (by phone Jerry Wetterskog).

Moved, seconded and voted to approve the minutes of the last meeting as amended.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $97,516.19: education $95,738.58; legal $562.50; sludge $60; town office $60; fire protection $978.11; administration $57.

CEO REPORT: Discussed replanting 17 trees and other remedial work on Darrell Brown’s site at Walker Pond with him, want written plans from DEP to follow and a date for completion; met with the Leppers to view potential sites for a small dock, they will decide on one and do the application and plans for the chosen site; power lines are down at 92 Silvermine Road and potential purchaser is concerned, they are private lines coming through the abutter’s property and have been down for a year or more before being found, recommended that Versant be contacted; potential purchaser for Tasha’s is concerned about the clearing on the Byard Point Road; acknowledged emails between contractor Shawn Ellis and John Kimball about trail repairs at Walker Pond; inquired of DEP concerning status of the Darrell Brown property.

DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1) County ACO Program – Seven towns are signed up for the County’s ACO program already. Merton Billings is the ACO for the program, the cost is between $3-4000 per town. Our ACO is ready to move on; Astbury will get more information.
2) Reminder – Meeting with Snow Contractor 5/18 – Will meet and discuss next year’s snow contract option with Daryl Astbury; Lindsy Dow will meet with the board to discuss assisting in the office.
3) Unresolved Business – a) Ford will be gone on 5/18, and 5/25 but will try to call in; b) Pert has contacted Andrew McCullough re the vault, will meet with him when he comes; c) Fidium hopes to have us connected in the next 1-2 weeks; d) Rapid Renewal will be online for training Monday afternoon, tax collector will train on TRIO Monday morning; e) Ford will be attending the HCPC meeting in June; f) a directory of small businesses is being prepared, will be able to put on the town website, Ford will discuss further.
Comprehensive Plan Update: Beninati discussed the plans for contacting the townspeople and the costs involved. Decided to wait until after the annual Town Meeting to be sure that the people approve the money to continue the update, which is about 30 years overdue.

ASSISTANT’S REPORT: RJD will be here Friday or Monday for a couple of days doing the spring assessments.
