SELECTMEN’S MEETING
May 13, 2021
Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Assistant Barbara Grindle, CEO Duane Ford, (by phone Matt Swansburg, Jerry Wetterskog, Arianna Smorawski.)
Needing one adjustment in the minutes of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to approve them with the adjustment.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $243,826.18: education $235,071.57, fire protection $443.88, administration $2,095.67, town office $40, plumbing $480, veterans graves $2,770, m/v excise $121.56, m/v clearing $2,545.50, fees $258.
CEO REPORT: Planning Board sent changes to ordinance for select board approval, Borrego Solar’s permit has been extended for 1 year, Planning Board is planning for a work session next month, comprehensive plan needs reworking and updating; a buyer for a property was concerned that nothing illegal had been done on the property, CEO will meet and go over the property with them; some mowing on Carter Point was reported and found that too much cutting and trimming of brush has been done; the brush keeps the bank from deteriorating into the water.
DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1) Borrego Solar Update: Swanburg gave a presentation on the current position. They have all their permits, waiting for Versant’s timeline for upgrade to their system. They are still 6-9 months away from starting, and then have to wait for Versant’s upgrade. There are still some conditions to meet the permit from the Planning Board, one of which is dealing with the selectmen regarding taxes. Board will meet to discuss town usage and tax situation. Borrego hopes to be completed by the end of 2022.
2) Any Unresolved Business: Have received David Carter’s resignation as 911 addressing officer. Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to sign appointment papers for Colleen Reed to the position.
Walker Pond Committee will meet at the Brooksville Municipal Building on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 9:15 a.m. starting on June 9.
Broadband update given by Wetterskog.
Heat pumps will be installed Friday; meeting with BHHT at Edgehill at 10a.m. to discuss their plans for the property.
Information given to cemetery representative regarding monitoring the cemetery for people leaving garbage, needles and syringes at the cemetery. Told to contact warden and inform the sheriff’s office.
SHORT BREAK – Opened for public hearing at 7 p.m. on the liquor license application for Roaring Lion Farm & Market. Selectmen requested an overview of plans for this summer. They are planning to open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for window take-out, dining at the pavilion, and wish to add wine and beer to the menu. There were no public comments. Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to close the public hearing at 7:09 p.m. Moved, seconded and voted- 3-0 to declare the application complete and to sign the application.
