SELECTMEN’S MEETING
July 28, 2011
Selectmen present: Neil Davis, Colby Pert, Victor Smith
Also present: CEO Duane Ford, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Packet Reporter Bette Britt, Nelson Grindal
1) Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
2) Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $2,794.51.
3) The town road commissioner has complaints about the road construction on the Walker Pond road. Engineer Andrew McCullough, the selectmen, and project coordinator Grindal have all been checking the road on a regular basis and everything is being done to the required specifications.
4) Grindal was given permission to put hazard signs and caution tape on the road to keep walkers off the road while heavy equipment and trucks are working. The Heritage Trust walking trails cross the road but do not follow it.
5) Grindal will contact representatives at DEP on a regular basis just to keep in touch with them.
6) There is a proposition on the table to use the Springer house as storage. The property is not large enough for a well and septic system to be installed. The proposition will be discussed by the selectmen.
7) The CEO brought the selectmen up-to-date on the two cell towers in town as well as dock permits and other projects in town. It is a busy time for new work.
8) Voted 3-0 for Jeff Hamilton to mow the old dumpsite on Old County Road and the field beside the Town Office. A letter from DEP reminding us that the dumpsite needs to be mowed annually and commenting that the site has been well cared for in the past.
9) Charlie Wiggins has talked to DOT about signage at the Billings Cove Road driveway.
10) Charlie and Selectman Davis have been discussing a stewardship program between the school and the Walker Pond property. This could be a very important part of the school curriculum and insure interest in the children for the future of the property.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
