SELECTMEN’S MEETING
February 25, 2021

Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Michael Sheahan (by phone Bob Publicover). Also present: Assistant Barbara Grindle (CEO Duane Ford, Jerry Wetterskog, Jeffrey Roth, Kate Tompkins, Donna Beninati, Ciona Ulbrich).

There being no errors or omissions in the minutes of the last meeting, moved, seconded and roll call voted 2-0 to approve them as written.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $6,872.51: administration $542.25, fees $140, clearing: m/v $1,401.50, town office $629.99, snow $4,212.76, road signs $66, general assistance $600.

CEO REPORT: An interesting week, questions regarding the status of the solar power project,
sent the permit paperwork regarding the Snow’s Cove Culvert project to Ciona Ulbrich; contractor for Black’s Pond checking in; a person with a contract to purchase property on Walker Pond asking questions and will build later; 2 properties on Carter Point for sale, a lot of activity on the town landing including a boat launching, potential sale of the boat just launched, keeping up on paperwork.

FIRE CHIEF UPDATE: Chief not present.

DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1) Budget Review-workshop – postponed until Astbury can be present.
2) Broadband Communications Committee – Beninati asked selectmen for assistance in setting up and publicizing the committee. 1) email on website and mailchimp for additional members on the committee. (will send an email to be placed on website and mailchimp). 2) set up a page for the committee on the website. Keep public informed, but information will be approved by the selectmen before being posted. Will probably need to have webmaster set up a page. 3) Would like to have access to the 911 database for information on current internet users and their accessibility. Will discuss with 911 officer (Chief David). Post a free conference call availability on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. for their meetings. They have joined Connect Maine for support and possible financial access.
3) Any Unresolved Business.- Sheahan: Re commercial solar issue. Versant sent a reply that there may possibly be issues later if there is a lot of usage need.
An article in the Maine Town & Country magazine on the topic of small short-term rentals. Publicover will inform the Planning Board of the article.

ACTION ITEMS: 1) Snow’s Cove Culvert Replacement bid award – Bid awarded to Maine Earth for $797,514.85.
2) Vote-Sign Notice of Award Documents – Moved, seconded and roll call voted 2-0 to sign the Notice of Award documents. Assistant will fax them tomorrow after all selectmen have signed them.

ASSISTANT’S REPORT: Sent town report papers to be proofed, Nearly done.

ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and roll call voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
