Selectmen’s Meeting, October 17, 2019
TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
October 17, 2019
Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Tammie Cox, Pat Horton, CEO/LPI Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Moved, seconded, and voted 2-0 to approve the minutes of the last meeting.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $325,236.87; school for $273,799.06, administration $623.26, fees $128, clearing/MV $1566.75, donations $49,120.
CEO Report: Harbor business: float loose, mooring ashore, seamoss gathering people back, one boat swamped. People continuing, public hearing Oct. 25 for the Planning Board to review the day care site plan; a shoreland zoning permit at Castine River Estates. Lot of miscellaneous stuff going on.
DISCUSSION ITEMS: Cox and Horton from Community Compass explained the program and the expansion from just the Neighborhood Navigator program to a Parents are Leaders (PALS) Early Childhood program aimed at newborns and infants and their parents. They do camperships to Nichols Day Camp and connect regional services with those that are in need of them.
Because of the power outage, the phone conversation with TRIO needs to be rescheduled.
ACTION ITEMS: A communication from a taxpayer about the generator at the Benjamin River Apartments not working during the power outage raises concern about the elderly and handicapped residents during a power outage. When working, the existing generator only provides heat for the Community Room and cold water for the apartments.
The town has received a donation of a painting done by 87 year old Alice Loesch titled A View From Caterpillar Hill Looking Toward Deer Isle. Clerk will make arrangements to accept the donation and do some publicity when received.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Grindle, Assistant
