SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 2, 2018
Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Read and moved, second and voted 3-0 to approve the minutes with one amendment (Wardwell Oil is now No Frills).
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $15,528.14; salaries and taxes $9,065.14, fire dept. expenses $550, sludge $480, fees $294.20, clearing H/F $36, I/F/W $1,538, M/V $2,900.75, administration $589.05.
NEW BUSINESS: Interviewed an applicant for the CEO/LPI position. Decided to vote next week and see about setting hours and training if a positive vote is reached.
Still discussing new legislation on legalizing marijuana; legislature changing rules regarding retail medical marijuana now.
OLD BUSINESS: Publicover to respond to the Planning Board request with an email and letter.
PERC/MRC: Still working to get together to talk about PERC.
Hales Hill Bridge: Very uninformative meeting with DOT people. They will get back next week with a letter to the selectmen of Brooklin and Sedgwick. They are, at the moment, planning to work on the Benjamin River Bridge this winter, before working on the Falls Bridge. Still have a problem with detouring to the Hales Hill bridge with largest trucks.
Will discuss public smoking policy requested by Healthy Acadia with the Walker Pond Landing Committee meeting Wednesday.
Activity on the No Frills property on Mines Road. DEP will be getting involved. The Planning Board will need to be involved with oil storage business.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:08 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Grindle, Assistant
