TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 24, 2017
Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Colby Pert, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Denis DeSilvey, Bob Publicover, Christine dePretoro, several for the special town meeting.
With one adjustment to the minutes of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to dispense with reading and accept them as adjusted. (the word legislation was changed to regulations.)
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $11,205.35; education costs $2,099.11, sludge for $360, Public Access road to the Salt Pond $3,600, electricity for fire department, town house, town office, and streetlights $374.56, general assistance $76.
NEW BUSINESS: CEO has filled out and mailed the permit-by-rule application for the Salt Pond access road. He will have the permit application ready for the September Planning Board meeting.
Clerk will check on the Landscape Committee. DePretoro would like to see the plans before doing any planting this fall.
Tax Collector has set her vacation for September 12, 13 and 14.
Assistant to Selectmen will not be in the office Tuesday, August 29.
OLD BUSINESS: Signed and mail the letter of support for Blue Hill Heritage Trust regarding the Caterpillar Hill property.
Harbor Committee chair DeSilvey reported that the selectmen of Brooklin would support any decision made regarding the Brooklin dinghys at the Sedgwick Dock. Selectmen moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to charge them as non-residents. Moved, seconded and voted to approve the new fees for the moorings and dinghies. Resident mooring – $50, non-resident mooring – $250; resident dinghy fee – $50, non-resident $100. A paid mooring and Sedgwick registration, no dinghy fee. There is a late fee after July 10 of $50.
Approved $250 for a sign board for the Town Dock.
Received an estimate of $2,300 for the roof over the handicap ramp and door. May need to replace the door as the water running off the roof has rusted the bottom of it. Will check to see how bad it has rusted.

ADJOURN: Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn at 6:56 p.m. for the special town meeting.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING:
Opened the special town meeting at 7 p.m. Town Clerk read the first order of business which was election of a moderator. Deanne Grimmig was nominated and after a written ballot, was elected.
She then read the second order of business, “Shall an ordinance entitled ‘Town of Sedgwick Moratorium Ordinance Regarding Retail Recreational Marijuana” be enacted? After much discussion the townspeople voted to enact the ordinance.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
