Selectmen’s Minutes, May 25, 2017
TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
May 25, 2017
Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Colby Pert, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Robert Jones, Bob Publicover, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
There being no errors or omissions in the records, it was moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to dispense with the reading of the records of the last meeting and accept them as written.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $79,481.65; school costs were $72,617.43, Emera for the office, streetlights, fire department, general assistance and town house was $732.96, fire department $498.66, veteran graves $2,650, plumbing $305, administration $294.22.
NEW BUSINESS: A taxpayer question about paying back taxes was discussed and referred to the treasurer. Moved and seconded and voted to allow him to make two payments, the second no later than June 1, 2018. He must pay all of the back taxes within the time frame before the interest can be discussed.
OLD BUSINESS: Reminder of the property bid deadline of June 8 at 6 p.m.
Review of the town-owned properties will be deferred until all selectmen are present.
CEO/ASSISTANT HARBORMASTER: REPORT: Reported that the auctioned property on Caterpillar Hill had sold for $40,000 plus back taxes. Attended a Shoreland Zoning class today: we need to update our ordinance at least to the draft ordinance that has been posted on the town website. This version will become mandatory soon.
The erosion plan for the town landing will need to be stone, not riprap. The floats are in at the dock, but the apron to the ramp had to be put on and needs to have a binder on it. Harbormaster is adjusting the finger floats.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn at 6:27 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Grindle, Assistant
