SELECTMEN’S MEETING
June 16, 2016
Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present. Selectmen present: Neil Davis, Colby Pert.
Also present: Nelson Grindal, Road Commissioner Paul Carter, Tax Collector Elizabeth Gray, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Read and voted 2-0 to approve the minutes of the last meeting.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $9,545.80; ballot clerks for the primary voting $425.25, new copier $3,900 and set up $75, general assistance $519, postage for 30-day notices $600.
OLD BUSINESS: Assessing agent and selectmen decided to deny the exempt status request from the Caterpillar Hill Initiative at least until the back taxes have been caught up. Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to deny (Astbury included in the discussion and agreed to the motion).
Public Hearing for the Town Dock drawings and questions scheduled for Wednesday, June 22 at 5 pm in the Town Office.
There have been problems at Walker Pond with children swimming in the dock area. For safety the children must swim in the swimming area and not where boats are being used.
Road Commissioner Carter has decided not to do any snow plowing this year.
Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to have the town attorney call Sally Mills to discuss the Salt Pond property.
NEW BUSINESS: Selectmen discussed the municipal valuation form. Decided on an overlay of $16,644.27. Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to set the mill rate at 0.01135, up slightly from 2016’s rate of 0.1027. Taxes may now be figured and sent.
CEO REPORT: Campers must be permitted annually according to the Shoreland Ordinance. Be sure to contact the CEO (699-6844) if you are going to park your camper in the shoreland zone for the summer.
Still having a problem with drainage on a property in Sargentville.
Jon Cullen of the DEP will visit the town dock to discuss the erosion and permitting process.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, the motion was made, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 pm.
