SELECTMEN’S MEETING
October 1, 2015
Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Nelson Grindal. Also present: Bob and Barbara Comerford, Jim Carey, Robert Jones, Victor Smith, CEO Duane Ford, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Tax Collector Belinda Rooney, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $99,620.50. School expenses were $54,235.11, donations approved at town meeting $31,174, staff wages $9,142.48 including taxes, and electrical bills for streetlights, fire department, town house and town office were $375.81.
PUBLIC BUSINESS: Carey and Comerford commented about the article in the Weekly Packet, asked if a new site evaluation has been asked for and if a meeting with the Strongs has been set. Grindal updated them on the current status, and as soon as a date can be set for a meeting, they will be told. The state is still the place to go for information and hopefully, some answers.
CEO REPORT: Still checking the landfill site, TJW has mowed and the fields look good. A temporary dock is being permitted at Billings Cove; the state considers anything that will come out of the water in 7 months or less to be temporary. Lots of housekeeping and following up going on.
OLD BUSINESS: Signed the DOT agreement for the salt/sand shed.
PUBLIC HEARING: Opened the public hearing on the General Assistance Ordinance and Appendices A-D at 6:35 pm. No discussion from members of the public present. Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to sign the Ordinance. Davis agreed to sign when he comes in to the office. Adjourned the public hearing at 6:38 pm. Returned to the regular agenda.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, the motion was made, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 pm.
Ben Astbury, Selectman
