Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes

Thursday September 12th, 2024

 

  • Opened the meeting and established a quorum. S. Ford, C. Pert and B. Duffy present. Also in attendance: D. Ford and L. Dow. From the public in: J. Wetterskog and R. Colburn
  • Reviewed and signed Treasurer’s warrant
  • Read and approve minutes from 8/29 & 9/5- Motion and 2nd to accept. 3-0 approved.

 

CEO REPORT:

Duane received a call from John Burgess about a storm repair to the Boathouse at the Punch Bown on left side going in. Drew Eaton had questions about acceptable materials for his new home. Snow’s plumbing requested an inspection at 3 Storage Lane. Peter Woodward checked in about a building notification form for his son, Ethan. Duane issued the newly corrected form to him. George Field asked about change of use at 276 North Sedgwick Road. Duane referred him to Matt Caldwell. Duane is still working on getting a response from DHS on Tanya Prime’s septic variance.   

 

DISCUSSION and/or ACTION ITEMS:

  1. Gordon property taxes- J. Gordon’s son met with the board about the taxes owed on the property. He provided a couple of mailings and a receipt from a payment made in 2017. Lyndsey will check the bank to see if there is evidence of the payment made. Will touch base with Mr. Gordon next week with a plan.
  2. Rankin property taxes- Barry has done some digging and would like to send one final letter to Mr. Rankin’s mothers house where he may now reside. Lyndsey will help draft up the letter with a notice of impending sale if he does not respond.
  3. Trio Update on accounts etc.- Lyndsey will be meeting with Penobscot’s treasurer; Amy Dunn to put in the last pieces of the cash receipting part of budgetary. Susan will also be entering in the list of vendors.
  4. Need balances in all accounts before budgeting starts- To go along with the other pieces needed with trio- fund balances will need to be current for this and going into budgeting season. Susan has asked Cindy for this information.
  5. General Assistance Hearing on Sept 19- There will be a public hearing, next week Thursday September 19th @6:00pm to approve the yearly state maximums for General Assistance. Notice has been posted in the paper.
  6. Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Hales Hill Bridge- Ribbon cutting ceremony, tomorrow, Friday September 13th. Susan will be attending on behalf of the Town of Sedgwick and will say a few words.

 

UNRESOLVED BUSINESS:

The dehumidifier in the vault needs to be replaced. One will need to be priced and ordered asap. Motion and 2nd to replace the dehumidifier in the vault. 3-0 approved.

 

ASSITANT’S REPORT:

Lyndsey is on vacation next week September 16-20th. Notices have been sent out in plenty of time to prepare. Cindy will assist if necessary.
