SELECTMEN’S MEETING
April 2, 2015
Opened the meeting and established a quorum present. Selectmen present: Neil Davis, Ben Astbury. Also present: Tax Collector Pat Gross, Treasurer/Town Clerk Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Robert Jones, Assistant Barbara Grindle.
Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.
Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $82,038.71. School expenses of $70,946.51, administrative salaries of $8,295.85 and FICA taxes of $647.35 comprised most of these expenses.
Tax Collector checked with the selectmen for her vacation time – April 19-27. 30-day notices will go out shortly after her return; liens will be placed in June and July, new tax bills should be ready for August billing.
OLD BUSINESS: Set public hearing for approval of General Assistance ordinance and appendices for April 23. Clerk will post hearing notices and place in newspaper.
Gave assistant permission to destroy general assistance applications dated before 2010. Moved, seconded and voted 2-0.
Astbury returned call to Bill Leck regarding Rope Ferry property. Selectmen need to clarify the property and notify the taxed owners.
Phones and internet finally working. Steve Brown researching how to separate the selectmen’s computers.
CEO REPORT: The Shoreland Zoning Ordinance has been rewritten by the state again. The planning board may have to look at it again, have a public hearing, and then take it to a town meeting. Our own ordinance may be more restrictive than the state version, but may not be less restrictive.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Robert Jones, a member of the planning board, reported that he had attended the workshop conducted by MMA. He felt that he got something out of it, but that reading the manual was more informative. Peter Atherton, alternate to the planning board, also attended the workshop and he felt that he got quite a lot of helpful information from it.
ADJOURN: There being no further business, the motion was made, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 pm.
